Waiting List Adoption Acknowledgment & Waiver

Required for dogs placed from our waiting list. These dogs are in our care for less than 72 hours, so this waiver documents what we cannot guarantee — and what you accept as-is.

This Is Not an Adoption Contract

This form is a liability waiver and acknowledgment only. It does not transfer ownership of any dog and does not replace your adoption contract.

Because waiting list dogs are typically in our care for less than 72 hours, we have not trained or evaluated them. You must also sign a separate adoption contract, and this waiver applies in addition to it.

Less than 72 hours in our care

These dogs are typically in our care for less than 72 hours before placement. We have not had the opportunity to train, evaluate, or work with the dog.

No training — waived

The dog has not been trained by us and may have no training at all. You acknowledge this and waive any right to training as part of this placement.

No temperament guarantee

We cannot guarantee temperament, behavior, bite history, compatibility with children or other animals, or how the dog will behave in your home.

Health records, no guarantee

The dog is current on vaccinations with a clean health record on file, but we do not guarantee the dog is medically sound or free of undisclosed or developing conditions.

Read, Acknowledge & Sign

Every statement in the acknowledgement section is required. Please read all eight boxes carefully before signing.

Adopter & Dog Information

This Is Not Your Adoption Contract

This form is a liability waiver and acknowledgment only. It is not an adoption contract, and it does not transfer ownership of any dog. Complete this form in addition to your separate adoption contract — both are required, and this form does not replace the other.

Signing this form does not make you the owner of the dog, does not guarantee that a dog will be placed with you, and does not create any obligation on the part of Trouble Off Your Hands K9 to place a dog with you.

Waiting List Placement — Acknowledgment & Waiver

Please read every term below carefully. This waiver exists because dogs placed from our waiting list have not been in our care long enough for us to train, evaluate, or assess them. By signing, you accept that risk.

How These Dogs Are Placed

  • Waiting list dogs are typically in our care for less than 72 hours before placement. Some are collected, transported, or transferred to us specifically for a waiting list adopter.
  • Because of the short period in our care, we have not had a meaningful opportunity to train, evaluate, assess, or work with this dog — and in many cases we have not observed the dog in a home environment at all.
  • Waiting list placements are usually made at an adopter's request for a specific breed, age, or gender. You understand that matching your request does not mean the dog has been evaluated by us.

No Training — Training Right Expressly Waived

  • The adopter acknowledges and agrees that this dog has not been trained by Trouble Off Your Hands K9, and that the dog may have no training whatsoever.
  • The dog has not gone through any of our training programs, board and train, obedience, behavioral rehabilitation, or socialization services.
  • The adopter expressly waives any right to training as part of this placement. No training, follow-up training, behavior consultation, or trainer support is included, promised, or owed.
  • The adopter acknowledges that any training the dog may need is entirely their own responsibility, at their own cost, after the placement.

No Temperament or Behavior Guarantee

  • Trouble Off Your Hands K9 makes no representation or guarantee whatsoever regarding this dog's temperament, personality, energy level, or suitability for any particular home.
  • We cannot guarantee the dog's behavior around children, other dogs, cats, livestock, or strangers, and we do not warrant that the dog is free of aggression, reactivity, resource guarding, separation anxiety, fear, or any other behavioral issue.
  • We do not warrant and have not verified the dog's bite history, prior living situation, prior training, or history of any kind. Information we pass along about the dog comes from third parties and is not independently verified by us.
  • We do not guarantee that the dog is house-trained, crate-trained, leash-trained, or socialized.

Health Acknowledgment — No Medical Guarantee

  • The adopter acknowledges that, to the best of our knowledge, this dog is current on vaccinations and has a clean health record on file.
  • That said, Trouble Off Your Hands K9 is not a veterinary practice and does not provide veterinary care or medical evaluation. We have not conducted a full veterinary examination, diagnostics, or testing on this dog.
  • We cannot and do not guarantee that this dog is medically sound, free of illness, injury, congenital or hereditary conditions, parasites, or any undisclosed or developing medical condition.
  • The adopter accepts the dog as-is, and agrees that any future medical, behavioral, or veterinary costs are entirely their own responsibility. The adopter is strongly encouraged to have the dog examined by their own veterinarian promptly after placement.

Release and Waiver of Liability

  • To the fullest extent permitted by law, the adopter releases, waives, and forever discharges Trouble Off Your Hands K9 — and its owners, employees, volunteers, trainers, agents, and representatives — from any and all claims, demands, damages, injuries, losses, or causes of action arising out of or relating to this dog.
  • This release covers, without limitation, any claim relating to the dog's training, lack of training, temperament, behavior, health, medical condition, illness, injury, or death, and any damage, injury, or harm the dog may cause to any person, animal, or property after placement.
  • The adopter assumes all risk of owning and caring for this dog, including the risk that the dog may have undisclosed behavioral or medical conditions because of the limited time it spent in our care.
  • Trouble Off Your Hands K9 shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages of any kind arising from this placement, including veterinary costs, property damage, personal injury, or the cost of rehoming, training, or returning the dog.
  • The adopter agrees not to hold Trouble Off Your Hands K9 liable for any training the dog lacks, for any behavior the dog displays, or for any medical or health condition discovered after placement.

Separate Adoption Contract Still Required

  • The adopter acknowledges that this form is not an adoption contract and does not transfer ownership of any dog.
  • The adopter understands that a separate adoption contract must also be signed before any dog is placed in their care, and that the terms of that adoption contract apply in addition to this waiver.
  • If any term of this waiver conflicts with the adoption contract, this waiver controls on the specific subjects it covers — training, temperament, health, and liability — and the adoption contract controls on all other subjects.

Why This Form Exists

Dogs placed from our waiting list are matched to what a family is looking for — usually a specific breed, age, or gender. Because these dogs are typically with us for less than 72 hours, we have not trained them, evaluated their temperament, or run medical diagnostics. We pass along what we know, but we cannot vouch for what we have not had time to see. This waiver makes that clear in writing before placement.

If you would like a dog that has already been trained and evaluated by us, ask about our program dogs instead — those placements come with a very different set of expectations.
